An Alien Has Taken Over My Son

For those of you that do not know my son, let me fill you in.  My son is 14 years old, very smart, a good athlete, and a bit on the lazy side.  When it comes to motivation, he is lacking.  If it involves hard work, he is no where to be found.  Did I mention that he is in military school?  But lately, an alien must have taken over my son, because all the sudden he has goals and a plan on how to fulfill them.  And I am not just talking about little goals, my son has decided that he wants to go to an Ivy League college.  He advised me that he is going to join the National Honor Society next semester and wants to play two varsity sports next year (baseball & football).  This year he wants to play JV basketball and varsity baseball.  He is also discussing what community service he would like to do in order to fulfill those hours.  He is even upset that he is only in one honors class this year because his goal is to graduate with higher than a 4.0 GPA (you can go over 4.0 with honors and AP classes).  Needless to say, I am speechless.  I want to run into the street and sing showtunes!  I think I like this alien and hope he stays around.

  2. I got here through your post at http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2010/05/01/credit-card-concierge - the title just made me "I want to read this" ... I'd like to double what Alex Young said and wish you lots of strength for the coming years.
