I Miss Autumn
Here it is October and I am checking out everybody's blogs and facebook pages and everybody is celebrating autumn. The leaves are turning in most of the country and here I sit with my air conditioner still on. I was able to open the house over the weekend and air it out for a while, but it got too hot and had to put the air on again. I know, I know, quit whining. But, I miss autumn. Yes, once upon a time, I lived in Kentucky where they actually have autumn. And I must admit it was glorious. I miss the spectacular show of leaves and a bonfire on a cold night. Here, we have bonfires for different a reason, to keep the mosquitoes away. I love living in Florida, at least most of the year. The weather and the landscape really are gorgeous, but you never get the great colors of turning leaves.

Wherever we are, the beauty of nature is a gift to us from God. So let's enjoy its splendor.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
that photo is divine. and, yes, you're right-- fall is gorgeous! but it'll be just a few weeks in most places where we'll be shivering through winter and fiercely jealous of your need for air conditioning! :)
ReplyDeleteAlex, I must admit that I marvel at the beauty that God puts before us everywhere.
ReplyDeleteMN Mamaleh, Yes, I realize that everyone will be jealous that I live in a paradise in about 1 more month.
I can relate, I miss Fall so much. I lived in Northern Virginia for over 20 years then moved to the Sunshine State. The first couple of years, it didn't bother me. Now, I get so depressed this time of the year since I cannot see the leaves changing. It just doesn't feel like Halloween/Thanksgiving time here.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is even worse (although, there was that one year we called to wish my parents a Merry Christmas from our pool...that was really neat)! They were buried in snow as we worked on our tans! LOL.
