I must admit that sometimes I think about maybe moving to a home that is on a couple of acres. Then I always change my mind. Between the monster mosquitoes, wildfires, alligators and various other wildlife. I have decided that living in the city is just fine with me.
I have been watching the Iron Horse wildfire in the north end of the county. Wildfires definitely scare me. When I grew up in Kentucky, we rarely ever had a wildfire. Here in Florida though, it is a common thing. In fact there are species of plants that will only germinate during a fire. I know, strange. In addition to wildfires started by people and lightening, we also have prescribed fires to allow the land to replenish and to diminish the wildfire threat.
So, I am done fantasizing about having a farm or a huge garden and make do with the suburban lot we have that is on a street with fire hydrants and gets sprayed for mosquitoes.
Last time I was in DC I remember thinking "I could have fun living here." Of course, I couldn't afford it! I am a suburbia girl.
ReplyDeleteOftentimes we can "romanticize" about things like where we live and then later realize there are some pretty real downsides to it, too.
