After the kids get home from school today, we are leaving for Kentucky for Spring Break. The kids have not seen their grandparents for over a year, so it is time for a visit. I am not looking forward to a 1000 mile road trip in my little Scion Xa, but it will have to do. Last time we drove there, we took the F250 diesel, but with diesel prices being what they are, it makes more sense to take the little car. So, I guess the kids will have to get along in the back for the trip.
Of course, it has been gorgeous here in Florida and we are leaving this weather to go to freezing weather in Kentucky. It seems weird to be the only people that go north for spring break. I guess we will appreciate the Florida weather all the more when we get back.
One thing I am thankful for is that one of John's boys (he is actually an adult) will be house sitting for us. I hate leaving a house empty when we are gone, I am just paranoid that way. He will be watching our dog and getting the mail. I am hoping I can get him to water our tomato plants too.
I am having my daughter take her netbook (much smaller than my laptop, and newer too) so I can keep up with my blogs. We will see how easy that is. One of the things I really love about blogging is the portability of it.
So, wish me luck on my trip. I will probably need therapy when I get home (family does that to me). I am sure I will have some stories and maybe some pics.
wishing you safe travels, good food, and plentiful bathrooms!

Just stopping by after seeing your blog listed on the SITS Saturday post! I just returned from a trip to Colorado (from Oregon) with my two young children. We had not visited Colorado (where my family lives) in over 2 years!
ReplyDeleteWe have a cross country trip planned to New York for later this Summer (to visit my husbands family). After that, I think it may be another two years before I take my kids on a plane (or long road trip).
Traveling with kids is tough!
