No, Not All at Once!

Okay, I am officially in appliance/electronics hell.  We moved into our house over 5 years ago and this summer, a lot of my appliances seem to be on their last leg.  It started with the dryer.  It still works fine, but it is much louder than it used to be.  Then, I noticed that the garbage disposal was leaking a little bit.  I pulled everything out from under the sink and put a bucket there to catch the drips.  I have instructed John that he is in charge of repairing that or getting it fixed over 2 months ago.  I guess I will have to look up troubleshooting online and do it myself (yuck).

Then, the dishwasher started getting REALLY loud.  It sounds like a train in the kitchen.  After that, the ice maker in the refrigerator quit and the refrigerator started making noise.  About two weeks ago the refrigerator started getting REALLY loud intermittently.  We would turn the fridge off and then turn it back on and that seemed to reset it.  Well, yesterday, it decided that it was going to sound like an aircraft.  I finally broke down and called an appliance repair guy.  He came and fixed the refrigerator (had to replace the fan) and ice maker at the tune of just under $300.  He also checked out the dishwasher and said we would be better off getting a new one because it needs a whole new motor ( I guess we will keep the loud dishwasher until it completely dies).  The dryer is just loud now I guess and did not get repaired.  We did not have the guy check out the disposal because that would have been more money.

Did I also mention that I had to buy a new cordless phone this week because our old one completely died.  We think it may have been just the battery, but the phone is so old that a battery costs just as much as a new phone, so of course we got a new one.  Also, I am now looking for a new computer printer because mine died this week too.  I am ready to take it out back and club it like the guys did the fax machine in the movie Office Space.

  1. I feel your pain. We replace the big kitchen appliances all at once in May and then had to do the washer/dryer about a month ago. Next it was hubby's computer that died. Then our big screen TV. Yikes.
